One potential outcome of climate change is an increase in the number and severity of extreme weather events. Our work in this field assesses the impact of severe weather and identifies measures and response plans to lessen the impact.
We worked closely with the UK Met Office to develop a ‘severe weather impact model’, which helps to predict the economic and social impact of severe weather on the UK. We have also developed best practice for local authorities to manage the impact of pluvial flooding.
