Cycling
In the UK there is growing pressure to improve cycling facilities and reduce the number of accidents involving cyclists; national and local governments are now looking to the Dutch approach for solutions.

Recent project experience includes the delivery of high speed cycle routes through the Netherlands, which seek to reduce travel times for cyclists and reduce traffic congestion on key commuter routes.

Royal Haskoning has recently been invited by the Dutch Embassy and ‘Fietsberaad’, one of the founding partners of the Dutch Cycling Embassy, to promote cycling as an alternative to the car within the city of Skopje, Macedonia.

More recently, Royal HaskoningDHV have teamed up with the Emabssy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Dutch Cycling Emabssy and the London Cycling Campaign to host a series of ‘Love Cycling, Go Dutch’ conferences throughout the UK.  Royal HaskoningDHV’s presentations have been associated with the Dutch design of bicycle infrastructure, giving consideration to how the Dutch cycling philosophy could be adopted within the UK to improve safety and to encourage travel by bike.

Our considerable experience in the design of cycle facilities throughout the Netherlands, alongside our UK experience in transport planning for new development, puts Royal Haskoning in a unique position to provide advice and technical support in the planning and development of infrastructure to support travel by bicycle in the UK.
