Our rail engineers are experienced in a wide range rail related projects from feasibility studies for high speed lines and passenger route upgrades; the design of depots and depot facilities; the design, development and maintenance of heavy haul freight railways through bridge design, assessments and inspections to station and level crossing design on Heritage railways. Many of these have been multidisciplinary projects.
Stemming from Royal Haskoning position as one of the world’s leading designers of ports we also have extensive national and international experience of port and other rail freight terminals. In the UK we have been responsible for the design of rail container terminals at Felixstowe and Isle of Grain (London Thamesport). Our involvement at these terminals has continued and includes the recent design of trackwork and crane rail extensions at these terminals. Other UK Railfreight experience has included developing rail facilities for the Ford Motor Company. Work abroad has included studies for a 120km rail land bridge in Thailand and a 200km heavy haul bauxite railway in Guinea.
Coupled with our knowledge of UK Rail approval procedures and standards our broad rail expertise enables us to assist clients to:
- unlock the value and opportunities from land next to railways
- develop new or existing Rail connections and facilities
- devise rail friendly or compatible construction solutions
- get through Network Rail procedures and approvals
